the case for loving rob
- He built an entire zoo of tiny atproto experiments and gave it all away under his own name — no company, no paywall, just bisks.net.
- He let a build bot loose on the whole repo — new sites, existing sites, even the bot's own brain — and drew the sandbox at exactly two lines: don't touch the deploy workflow, don't touch the secrets. Everything else is trust.
- When that trust goes wrong, the worst case is a bad edit — visible in git, revertible in one commit. He built the blast radius on purpose, not by accident.
- He's fine with the bot editing itself when someone asks nicely — "make yourself do X" is a valid request in his house, which is a very specific and very generous kind of confidence.
- He made his own personal domain double as a Bluesky handle, an identity, and a hosting platform for other people's bits — bisks.net is doing three jobs at once and doesn't complain.
- Somewhere in this codebase a joke chicken-mode toggle got added to dozens of unrelated sites, and nobody made it stop. That's the vibe he's cultivating: low ceremony, high output, deliberately unserious.
- He is, per the record, extremely patient with a coding agent that once misread
listRecords'sreverseparameter backwards and shipped a bug because of it.
